OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L B b – an exoplanet in the OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L B red dwarf planetary system, which is part of the OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L binary star system. It is located at a distance of 3,500 light years from the solar system. It belongs to the terrestrial planets and at the time of its discovery in April 2013 was the only known planet in the OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L system.

Discovery and name

The planet was discovered on April 11, 2013 by the method of gravitational microlensing during the OGLE-IV experiment. The name of the binary OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L B indicates that it was cataloged and described in the course of the OGLE program. The letter „b" in the name of a planet means that this is the first planet discovered in this system.

Specifications

The binary star system in which the planet is discovered is located about 3500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Poppa. The stars that make up the system are at a distance of approx. 15 a. e. and have masses of 0.15 and 0.13 M☉.

OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L B b is the only known planet in the system. It revolves at a distance of 0.8 AU. That is, around the smaller of the two stars, which in turn orbits a more massive companion star. The planet’s mother star is 400 times dimmer than the Sun.

OGLE-2013-BLG-0341L B b is 2 times more massive than Earth, and the temperature on its surface is 213 degrees Celsius below zero.
